It’s You

It’s always a staring contest. For a few moments, we challenge each other; there’s a thrill in not knowing who’s going to win tonight. You stand there, in front of me, white and empty waiting for my hands to rummage over you and fill you. I contemplate all the possibilities of your white canvas before emptying myself onto you.

Was it really yesterday when we did this the last time? Every night it feels like I’ve been waiting a million years to see you. You fill my mind all day long. I find myself planning our encounters in all my free time. I’ve been reflecting on this, you know? About why I love you.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s because, in reality, I am you and you are me. Through you, I love myself; the fruit of my imagination blooms within you, freeing the burning ideas engraved in my brain.

There’s a thrill in our relationship. Even if it’s just for my own pleasure, or when it’s something we share, did I like it? Did they? Was it understood? Enjoyed?

You teach me how to be myself. Who I really am. Because of you, I know I have a passion, a dream, a friend to comfort me in my best and my worst. You give me purpose every day, the reason why I wake up every morning — so I can live my dreams through you.

It’s you who enlightens me and shows me that hard work is always worth it if even only one person likes it — no matter if that person is yourself.

I read through you once again; your once empty body is now covered by beautiful lines and curves that enhance the beauty within you and express all my feelings for your enchanting presence. I love you. My gosh, I do.
